Parents asked, we answered
Everything you need to know before your first BabySwim session: from the right age, water safety, and the parent’s role, to bookings and getting ready for the pool.
Yes, wearing a swim cap is recommended for babies as well.
It helps with hygiene and is a simple rule that ensures everyone’s safety. Hair strands should not get in the water.
The process is simple:
- Prepare the required medical certificates
- Call us to book an appointment
- Come to the first session and fill out the registration form
- Start your in-water experience, week after week
Activities are usually conducted in small groups, max 8 children, in an organized and friendly environment.
The instructor guides the entire group while providing individual support to each family.
This approach helps children learn through imitation, socialization, and play, while maintaining personalized attention.
In general, one adult gets in the water with the child, but a second adult can accompany the family and watch the activity from outside.
A baby aquatic activities session usually lasts min 30 minutes, max 60 minutes—enough time for exercises, games, and helping your child get used to the water, without overdoing it.
A session lasts about 50–60 minutes and includes warm-up, water exercises, and time for free play.
The immersion reflex is a natural reflex babies have, which occurs when their face comes into contact with water. It helps protect the airways. In aquatic activities, exercises are performed gradually and only under the supervision of instructors.
After your first session, we’ll set the weekly schedule together that best fits your family and child.
Consistency is the key to adaptation and progress.
The most important thing is for you to be calm and confident.
Kids pick up on an adult’s mood — and when you’re relaxed, your child adapts more easily.
The first session is the beginning of a beautiful relationship with water.
No.
Most children come with no water experience. The program is designed specifically for getting comfortable and gradual development.
We recommend you arrive about 20 minutes before your scheduled time.
This allows for calm preparation and for your child to get comfortable with the environment.
Yes, it’s completely normal.
Some children need time to adjust to a new environment. With patience and support, most children adapt quickly.
The first session is a settling-in experience, not a test.
We focus on helping your child get familiar with the water, connecting with you as the parent, and creating a sense of safety.
We start with small steps, through play and gentle interaction.
Aquatic activities for babies can generally start from around 4 months of age, when the child is ready to explore the aquatic environment safely, alongside a parent and under the instructor’s supervision in the Babyswim Cluj pool.
Newborns can start aquatic activities at home from 2-3 weeks, after the umbilical cord has healed.
Classes can start from a very young age. Activities are adapted to each developmental stage, and the main goal is to familiarize the child with water in a safe and enjoyable way.
For the comfort and safety of all participants, please prepare:
For the child:
- swim diaper and double-layer swimsuit
- swim cap
- swimming goggles and pool slippers (for children over 2 years old)
For parents:
- pool slippers
- towel
- personal hygiene items
Required medical documents:
- medical certificate for the child: clinically healthy
- medical certificate for the accompanying adult: clinically healthy
- for females: vaginal secretion test
Typically:
- Swimsuit, swim cap, and flip-flops for the potty-trained child and parent
- Special swim diaper, double-layer swim brief, and baby swim cap for infants
- Towel and hygiene products, such as shower gel
Absolutely. Most children start with no experience. The adjustment happens gradually, through play and gentle exercises, at each child’s pace.
Classes can start from a very young age, usually from a few months old, ideally 4 months. Our aquatic activities are tailored to each developmental stage and take place in a safe, warm, and friendly environment.
Taking part in water activities can expose your child’s body to temperature changes and a new environment.
A probiotic can support gut flora balance and immunity, especially during adjustment periods. This is a preventive recommendation and can also be discussed with your pediatrician.
For your child’s safety and that of the other participants, we recommend postponing sessions if there are symptoms of illness (fever, persistent cough, heavy discharge). Health comes first. Please read the House Rules.
PROHIBITIONS: Access to the pool area is not allowed for any adult/child if they have a fever, convulsions, or a contagious condition; illnesses involving loss of consciousness or pathological impairment; or any other conditions that could endanger their health during activities.
It’s important to talk to your pediatrician before starting the classes. Most of the time, participation is possible, with a few precautionary measures and careful monitoring.
This is a common concern. In most cases, ear infections are not caused by swimming itself, but by respiratory infections or individual factors. During classes, safety and hygiene rules are followed to reduce risks, and session duration is adapted for the child’s comfort. Children should not come to the pool if they have an ear infection.
We advise parents to take care to keep their children’s ears dry. After swimming or bathing, wet ears must be dried!
Here are a few suggestions:
- towel technique: gently wiping them with a towel or soft cloth or tissues
- you can use a hair dryer on the lowest setting, holding it at least one meter away from the ear
These recommendations are essential for preventing swimmer’s ear:
■ treating rhinitis, sinusitis, and infections
■ teaching children to blow their nose correctly when they have a cold or nasal aspiration for babies
The danger of cotton swabs: doctors recommend avoiding inserting foreign objects into the ear, including cotton swabs.
Protection: if your little one is prone to ear infections, choose a silicone swim cap and moldable silicone earplugs.
Small things make a big difference
Health is not luck—it’s knowledge!
For many parents, the benefits are visible not only physically, but emotionally too: confidence, independence, and a healthy relationship with water. It’s an investment in your child’s development, not just an activity. And the effects show over time—especially for kids who come regularly for years; they get used to discipline and to sport.
Yes, it’s very dangerous, especially in the first years of life, between 0-2 years. That’s precisely why our pool doesn’t use chlorine; instead, it uses salt. The water is treated with saline electrolysis, which is safe and gentle on your little one’s skin and eyes, making it truly baby-friendly.
It’s one of the most common concerns. In reality, swimming in the right conditions helps strengthen the immune system. The water and air temperature are kept at an optimal level for children, and the lesson length is adjusted to avoid discomfort or fatigue.
Group classes offer important benefits for your child’s development:
- children learn through imitation and observation
- the environment becomes more motivating and more fun
- confidence and social skills develop
- progress is more natural and more consistent
At the same time, each child receives individual attention from the instructor.
Aquatic activities contribute to:
- muscle development
- improving coordination and balance
- stimulating psychomotor development
- developing lung capacity
- boosting self-confidence
- strengthening the parent–child bond
Every child develops at their own pace, but many parents notice changes after the first sessions: more relaxation, confidence, and joy in the water.
Real progress comes with consistency.
In general, one adult gets in the water with the child, but a second adult can accompany the family and watch the activity from outside.
Yes, your child can take part in activities with another trusted adult too: grandpa, grandma, or a nanny.
What matters is that the accompanying person is calm, attentive, and engaged in the activity.
For everyone’s safety, the adult who goes into the water must follow the same rules as parents, including providing the required medical certificate.
In many families, grandparents or the nanny become valuable partners in this experience, helping maintain continuity and your child’s joy in the water.
It’s a more common situation than you think and it’s perfectly okay.
Activities take place in a safe environment, with water at an appropriate depth and under the constant guidance of the instructor.
Many parents discover that once they see how naturally and joyfully their child interacts with the water, their confidence gradually increases. There’s no pressure. Each adult adapts at their own pace.
No, it is not necessary for the parent to know how to swim in order to participate in aquatic activities with their child.
The activities take place in safe conditions, in water of appropriate depth, and the instructor continuously guides each exercise. The parent’s role is to provide the child with support, confidence, and presence, not swimming performance.
Many parents actually discover that these activities are an excellent opportunity to become more familiar with the water in a controlled and friendly environment.
No. They can only help at the beginning and end of the class, wearing clean flip-flops.
During the session, they can wait outside—you can see everything through the window—or in the changing room.
No, only 1 parent per session. But you can take turns—one week one parent, the next week the other parent.
Yes, at all aquatic activities at BabySwim Cluj, the child is accompanied in the water by one parent for the entire duration of the session.
Yes, for babies and toddlers, it’s important and mandatory for a parent to be in the water. This creates a sense of security and helps your child adapt more easily to the aquatic environment.

It helps with hygiene and is a simple rule that ensures everyone’s safety. Hair strands should not get in the water.
Yes, you can gift the Babyswim experience.

It’s a useful, unique, and memorable gift for the whole family.

Please come with only one car to ensure that all participants have parking available.
Yes. We understand that parents’ schedules can be busy. That’s why we offer booking options across several time slots, so every family can find something that fits. The schedule varies from day to day, but we can start from 9, and on some days the last session starts at 19:00.
We don’t run aquatic activities on weekends, because pool sessions need to be attended regularly, once a week, and in the long run this wouldn’t work.
Yes, appointments can be modified
Changes depend on available slots
We recommend keeping the same day and time for optimal progress
Our team will help you find the best solution
Depending on availability, the session can be rescheduled. If you can’t attend at all that week, it will automatically be moved to the following week.
The goal is for each child to benefit from continuity and progress.
For faster results, you can do two sessions, depending on your family’s availability.
Usually, one session per week is enough for steady progress.
Booking is easy—just call us. Our team will guide you in choosing the right group based on your child’s age and level.
No. Children are photographed or filmed only with the explicit consent of their parents.
Upon registration, each family completes a Photo and Video Consent Form, attached to the internal regulations. In this document, the parent decides whether or not to give their consent for the use of the child’s images in our materials.
We strictly respect each family’s choice.
If there is no consent, the child will not appear in published photos or video materials.
The safety and confidentiality of children are our priority.
All children wear caps in the pool. They’ll all get used to it—in fact, after a while, they put the cap on themselves. If they take it off, we put it back on and give them toys to hold.
Yes, wearing a swim cap is recommended for babies as well.
It helps with hygiene and is a simple rule that ensures everyone’s safety. Hair strands should not get in the water.
Yes—when done correctly, submersion is a safe activity for babies.
It’s done gradually, gently, and only when your child is ready. We never force a child. Every step happens at their pace, with support from the parent and the instructor.
No. The pool is exclusively dedicated to aquatic activities for babies and toddlers, which allows us to maintain a safe, controlled environment adapted to the needs of little ones.
For your child’s safety and that of the other participants, we recommend postponing sessions if there are symptoms of illness (fever, persistent cough, heavy discharge). Health comes first. Please read the House Rules.

The water temperature in the pool is constant, between 30-32°C, ideal for the comfort of little ones.
At BabySwim Cluj, your little one’s health and safety are our top priority!
That’s why we use a 𝕤𝕒𝕝𝕥-𝕨𝕒𝕥𝕖𝕣 𝕖𝕝𝕖𝕔𝕥𝕣𝕠𝕝𝕪𝕤𝕚𝕤 and UV water treatment system.
This modern technology lets us disinfect the water without harsh chemicals like chlorine, which can irritate babies’ delicate skin. That’s why we’re proud of our advanced salt-water electrolysis disinfection method, which protects children’s skin and mucous membranes from chlorine’s harmful effects. ✨
Salt (NaCl) is added to the water, and its chemical composition is responsible for disinfecting the water—ideal for babies, toddlers, pregnant women, and parents with sensitive skin.
Safety is the top priority.
Yes, baby swimming is safe, because activities are organized in a pool dedicated exclusively to young children, with appropriate temperature, following strict safety and hygiene protocols and under the guidance and supervision of specialized instructors, and exercises are adapted to the child’s age and level.
The parent actively participates in each session, providing the child with safety and comfort.
The first months of life are defining.
- your baby’s skin absorbs everything,
- their lungs breathe the air above the water,
- their little eyes are in direct contact with the water.
In a standard public pool, industrial chlorine is inevitable.
At BabySwim Cluj, NO!
And one more thing that few parents know, but which makes all the difference:
- Our pool is exclusively for babies and toddlers. Period.
- We don’t host private parties where dozens of children of all ages share the same water.
- We don’t host swimming lessons for older children.
- No adults enter for aqua gym, zumba, or other activities—the water is always just for babies!
We add natural salt (NaCl) to the pool.
Through the electrolysis process, the salt generates a natural disinfectant, in minimal and automatically controlled concentrations.
The water remains perfectly clean, without adding any chemical chlorine.
What does this mean for your baby?
Zero added chlorine in the water:
- no pungent smell,
- no irritation on your little one’s delicate skin,
- no redness in their eyes after each session
Water as gentle as seawater:
- the salt concentration is minimal and natural, similar to what you feel on your skin by the sea
No chloramines:
- the substances in classic pools responsible for irritation, coughing, and allergies in children have no place in our pool
Constantly verified quality:
- our water is monitored and approved by DSP Cluj, so you enter the pool with the certainty that everything meets the strictest hygiene and safety standards
Because we love them just as much as you do.
We know it feels like an extra step. Another trip to the doctor, another piece of paper.
But let us explain why it truly matters.
Water doesn’t forgive surprises.
Aquatic activities are wonderful, but they’re also *real physical effort* for a baby. The heart works. The lungs work. The little body adapts to a new environment.
That’s exactly why we need to know your baby *can handle this effort* in complete safety — and the pediatrician is the only one who can confirm that.
What exactly do we check?
- That your baby is healthy and can do “sport”
- That there are no conditions that could be worsened by water or exertion
- That the parent who gets in the water is also in good health
When you sign up, you also sign a declaration on your own responsibility confirming that both you and your baby:
- do not have a fever
- do not have convulsive or contagious conditions
- do not have any other illnesses that could endanger your health or that of the other participants
It’s not bureaucracy. It’s respect.
Respect for your baby.
For the other children in the water.
For the families who chose us and deserve a 100% safe environment.
If you have questions about what the certificate needs to include or how to get it quickly from your family doctor or pediatrician, write to us directly. We’re here.
Our pool water is carefully monitored to provide a clean, healthy environment for babies’/children’s swimming.
🔎 We regularly check water quality through tests carried out by the Public Health Diagnostic and Investigation Laboratory within the Cluj County Public Health Directorate.
The results are always excellent, and parents can feel confident that their little ones are enjoying a safe and pleasant swimming experience!
